VIP Guests Enjoy Cruising with Park West Artist Leslie Lew

Felix Juggling Nine Lives by Leslie LewWe had the fortunate pleasure as VIP guests to be on a cruise with Ms. Leslie Lew. We very much appreciated her style of art and we were able to get to know Leslie on a personal level as well. We in fact purchased “Optimo” and “Felix the Cat.”

Leslie chose our 10 year old daughter, Emma, to be her “assistant” and Emma enjoyed painting with Leslie on a couple of paintings. When we received the “Felix the Cat” painting, it brought a smile to all our faces, but especially Emma as it held a special memory for her to actually paint with Leslie!

The VIP events are fantastic. We find them to be educational and having the artist on board and to actually paint with them adds another dimension to the event. With that particular VIP cruise (Carnival Glory), we were fortunate to meet a few artists. Leslie has a natural way of connecting with the VIP attendees. Each of her pieces is truly special and unique and we love her work.

Thank you!

Park West Gallery Features Limited Edition Photographic Exhibit by Kelly Ramsey

IN SEVENTH HEAVEN GALA AND AUCTION

Join Us April 25, 2009 (View Event Invitation)

Every spring, the Park West Gallery® in Southfield becomes the “in” place to be as generous supporters gather to raise funds for the DMBA Foundation’s For The Seventh Generation program. Hosted by Park West Gallery® owners Albert and Mitsie Scaglione, the festive gala offers live music, wonderful food, and room after room of unusual and exciting items for attendees to bid on.

Featuring Limited Edition Photography Exhibit by Kelly Ramsey

The photos for sale in Gallery 2 are the signed limited edition works of Kelly Ramsey. As a referee of the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court, Family Division, Juvenile Section for Wayne County, Michigan, she has jurisdiction over hundreds of delinquency, abuse/neglect and adoption matters that are before the court.

A native Detroiter, Ramsey is the visionary behind the For the Seventh Generation. Her passion for children and the unique importance they have to a civilized society is not limited to her career life, however. She has traveled extensively throughout the world photographing children and families within the context of their homes.

In this exhibit, you'll find faces of children from Cambodia, China, Cuba, Egypt, Guatemala, Malawi, Thailand, Vietnam, Zambia and our own United States. Each photo reveals aspects of both the outer and the inner life of the subject through a clear and compassionate lens. Each child's face reminds us of the importance of each generation to our future.

$100 from the sale of each photo will be donated to For The Seventh Generation

Park West Gallery Auctioneers: The Best in the Business

Whenever a glamorous gala complete with celebrity guests is being put together, only the best of the best are asked to contribute their services to help make the night unforgettable. That is why Park West Auctioneer Lane Conner acted as auctioneer for the 11th annual celebration of The Able Trust Gala, Royal Russia held at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. The black-tie event dedicated to improving the quality of life for disabled Floridians was magnificent, and the live auction of high-end items was no exception thanks in part to Lane’s ability to pull the audience in and get them excited about each item.

In Seventh Heaven, the second annual fundraiser benefiting For The Seventh Generation, will be held at Park West Gallery in Southfield, Michigan on Saturday, April 25 beginning at 6pm. The highlight of the night already filled with community, arts, music, food and wine will be auctions: a silent auction of unique items that can be viewed online and throughout the event and a live auction featuring, among other items, works of art donated by Albert Scaglione, founder and CEO of Park West Gallery, and his wife Mitsie Scaglione, executive director of Park West Foundation.

The silent auction has already begun online with new items being added weekly. The items in the silent auction can be viewed and bid on at http://seventhheaven.cmarket.com/. Customer Corner: Thanks Park West Gallery!

I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to attend our first VIP event. We had such a wonderful time learning about art, talking to the guest artists and their families and meeting fellow art lovers.

The Park West staff, Chris Lindsay, Sam, Rebecca and Daniel (PW ship staff) were great. Chris is so knowledgeable, he is a walking-talking book on art. Please extend our gratitude to everyone involved for all their hard work in planning and executing this event and for making this so memorable for us.

Best Regards,

Alan and Sharon W.

Park West Gallery Launches New Artist Sites

Features Fine Art from Gockel, Kinkade, Le Kinff, Krasnyansky and Tarkay

United States of America (Press Release) April 3, 2009 -- Park West Gallery launches new web sites for acclaimed artists Alfred Gockel, Thomas Kinkade, Linda Le Kinff, Anatole Krasnyansky and Itzchak Tarkay. The sites feature information on the artists, virtual galleries of their work, videos of artist interviews and selections from the Park West Collection by each artist.

Through these new sites, Park West Gallery makes these collections viewable worldwide and continues its mission of bringing fine art to people everywhere.

“We have designed these sites as simple, straight-forward profiles of the artists and their works,” said Park West Gallery Director Morris Shapiro. “These new sites complement the Park West Gallery site, and extend the reach of each artist’s imagery worldwide.”

Leveraging the broad reach of the internet, Park West strives to make fine art available to more collectors and lovers of art everywhere. Park West’s other outreach initiatives include donation of artwork to universities, non-profit art auctions, fine art auctions aboard cruise ships and support of youth-based charitable causes.

Dear Park West Gallery

We have totally enjoyed the Park West experience. Specifically, the seminars on the cruise ships have raised our interest and knowledge and have created a love of art in both my husband and I. We plan, in about 10 years, to apply for an auctioneer position on a cruise ship and share our passion with others who are like we used to be; uncaring and unknowing about the beauty and intrigue of art.

One more instance we would like to thank Park West for: My parents joined us for a cruise on the NCL Spirit. I bought my mother a Brodinsky landscape. She picked out a frame and I paid. She lives in US, I live in Canada. Unfortunately, the invoice failed to include the frame she picked. I was unaware of the problem until a few months after when she still hadn't received her framed print. Park West figured out what had happened and fixed it for her. She has the framed print above her fireplace. I am so impressed! It was for her 60th birthday. Thank you for making her happy!

We are Park West customers for life. Nice way to run a business! We hope to become part of your team when our kids are grown and our art knowledge is more comprehensive.

A Benefit For the Seventh Generation

Park West Foundation

A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW,
…it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what kind of clothes I wore.
But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child.

On April 25, 2009, For The Seventh Generation will hold its second annual fundraiser, In Seventh Heaven, at Park West Gallery in Southfield. In Seventh Heaven will feature an evening of food, art, spirits and music set throughout the elegant 63,000 square-foot gallery. The highlight will be three auctions: an online auction that will begin on or about April 1, a silent auction and a live auction featuring works of art donated by Albert and Amelia “Mitsie” Scaglione. View Event Invitation

For The Seventh Generation provides non-law related services to all neglect and abuse wards of the court, by encouraging and matching volunteer community organizations and individuals with a child and family in need. Any organization or individual who desires to offer direct and tangible help will be given the opportunity and structure to participate in a program that directly addresses the special needs of that child and his or her family. Our goal is to bring the children and our community’s resources together in an efficient, timely and continuing manner by serving as a “clearing house” to match those willing to volunteer their time, talents or merchandise to those children identified as needing such assistance.

Park West Artists at Sea: Fanch Ledan

Volets Caraibes by Fanch Ledan

Artists are hanging up their brushes and testing their sea legs to launch a program intended to enhance the Celebrity guest’s cruising experience.

By Cassandra,
Cruise Ship Art Auctioneer

Fanch Ledan boarded the Celebrity Constellation with the intention to initiate as much involvement with the guests as possible. His charming French demeanor and his readiness to greet guests assured a sensational first night onboard. Even if they were not previously involved in art, their chance to meet the world renowned artist quickly sparked their interest.

The next day was a live interview with the cruise director. The vision of the artist was discussed and the floor was opened for questions and answers. The intimate crowd was quite enthused to have personal insight to the artist’s world and was eager to hear more.

After the interview came the first auction. A live art auction is always a guaranteed crowd pleaser. When one of the artists is present to comment on his works it becomes a truly electrifying event . Mr. Ledan would humbly inform the crowd of the inspiration and significance behind each work of art -- information that even the most knowledgeable art dealer might be unable to provide. His words narrated a story behind each work and embedded emotional ties into the crowd. Many of these guests soon became Fanch Ledan art collectors.

Over many dinner discussions, the word spread fast throughout the ship that there was a special artist onboard. The gossip was that he was fun, friendly and most of all, approachable. Many guests commented on his amicability and his willingness to discuss his many experiences as an artist. The art gallery was busy for the next few days; mainly with signatures, photo shoots and lengthy conversations.

The second auction was an even bigger hit than the first. By that time, the whole ship had access to the live interview with Fanch, which had been broadcast into all the staterooms during the port days. The artist sailing was the buzz on the ship -- everyone wanted to come and check out the world renowned artist that Park West Gallery had brought to them.

Park West Gallery prides itself on creating a comfortable and informal environment for people to collect fine art. They understand that art collecting has a veneer of elitism and they succeed in actively demolishing that perception. Bringing art to the people is their mission. Bringing the artist that created the art to the people is even more poignant. Celebrity guests, quickly turned art connoisseurs, had a cruise experience of a lifetime. Many of them will forever own a fine work of art that they will be able to enjoy for the rest of their lives. It will always remind them of the great relationships that were built with the artist and the art dealers while they sailed the seas on the Celebrity Constellation.
