Dear Simon,

We just realized that it's been more than a month since the land auction in Hauppague. We've been wanting to write and say Thank You to you and the Park West staff that made the weekend so wonderful.

Doug and I had never been to anything like this before and we completely enjoyed ourselves and the stress free, fun environment Park West and its staff provided. We also enjoyed meeting so many other collectors.

The Wind Blows Cold (fig.23). Tim Yanke.
We particularly enjoyed meeting Tim Yanke and Leslie Lew. They are such down to earth, fun loving people and not prissy "artistes." We absolutely love our original Tim Yanke buffalo and our Leslie Lew match box. We've enjoyed showing them off to friends and family and cannot wait to be united with our other purchases.

Thank you and Rob and all of the others who made our weekend such a memorable one.

Sincerely,

Douglas & Angela C.

My name is Venice and I am a new art collector thanks to a wonderful team on the Carnival Dream Park West Art Gallery. These wonderful people are Amy, Chris, Bill and Yuki. They were able to answer the many questions that I had as it was the first time I had ever been to an art auction, along with helping me in purchasing my new works of art.

You have a fantastic team who knows what they are talking about. From the terrific experience that I had, I know that when I choose to buy art work again it will be from Park West Galleries. You should be very proud to have such an amazing team working for you on the Carnival Dream.

Thank you for the beautiful art works that you provide in your galleries,

Venice B.

Ashley,

Imprint of the Future. Dominic Pangborn. It's been a busy week since we returned from the VIP weekend but I still wanted to take an opportunity to thank you for inviting us and for treating us like royalty. It was such a pleasure actually getting to meet you and learning about you and your love of art.

Your knowledge and expertise about all the art work is phenomenal and both Bob and I truly appreciated your assistance in helping us to collect some very wonderful pieces to add to our collection. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere you created and the wonderful opportunity to meet and talk with other art lovers like ourselves.

This was a fantastic weekend and we owe it all to you. All the Park West employees were helpful and fun to talk with and I must say that Chris Lindsay is a fantastic auctioneer. All of you made this a weekend to remember for us.

Again, thanks so much for inviting us and for greeting us and making us feel comfortable. It truly was your knowledge and assistance that helped us with our purchases. I wish continued success for Park West Galleries and hope that you will think of us again in the future if planning any more VIP weekends in the future.

Good Morning E.J.,

Just a short note to tell you we had a very good time at the Art Auction in San Francisco and you all brought a very nice collection there for all the different tastes of your buyers. I'm so looking forward to perhaps working with you again and I truly hope when I go to Kentucky your there with us, I really liked your manner and the fact that you aren't a pushy salesmen because I went there not knowing what I wanted and you gave me the space and time to make sure I was buying the pieces I liked and thank you for that. :-)

I truly hope your going to Kentucky with our group when we get the chance to go to Mohammad Ali's museum because I would really like to work with you again. My grandson thinks he is an Art critic now and he had the time of his life and he really enjoyed himself and thank you all for showing us a great time.

Have a great day!

Collectors Enjoy Latest Cruise Art Auction

It is always a pleasure to hear from happy collectors, and this recent Park West Gallery customer review is truly a great read. Thank you for sharing your latest Park West experience with us. It sounds like you both had an excellent time deciding what artwork to add to your existing collection. However, we hope that you both enjoy the works of art even more when they are displayed in your home!

My wife and I recently sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas, 12 day Eastern Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona. We just wanted to give a shout out to our ships auctioneer Werner and his assistant Shaun. Like all the other PWG at sea auctions we have attended, we had a wonderful time and were able to see many wonderful pieces of art. Werner and Shaun did a great job at setting up a fabulous display for each of our 3 auctions, an art talk down in the main atrium and an impromptu display when we had an unexpected sea day due to a port cancellation. They put in a lot of hard work into getting that set up.

Vieux Bouffon Contemplant Des Acrobates II. Pablo Picasso.
We would also like to thank Werner for all the extra time and patience he spent helping us to decide on what special piece of art we wanted to bring home. We were torn between a Rembrandt and a Picasso. Werner and Shaun set up a special quiet display area for us to look at the art more closely and to give us some time to study each piece individually. It was nice to have that area away from all the noise and pedestrian traffic on the ship. Werner sat down with us and explained in more detail the importance and significance of each artwork that helped us tremendously in making up our minds.

We also got to spend some leisurely time away from the gallery with both of them and chatted about art, life, cars and many other things. It was interesting to hear about their different backgrounds and growing up especially with Werner being from South Africa and Shaun in Wisconsin. We were having such a good time that we didn’t even realize we had spent almost 2 hours just hanging out. This was a great pairing by Park West to have these two gentlemen from totally different backgrounds together sharing the common interest of art.

When we had finally made up our minds on what artwork we wanted to purchase, Werner sat down with us and we crunched numbers to make this important purchase happen. If he wasn’t on the phone talking back and or faxing something to Michigan, he was on his calculator. During all this, we found out there were at least three other interested parties looking at the same pieces. I know Werner must have been excited to have so much interest in these two works of art but at the same time, we felt just by the amount of energy he was putting into this, that he really wanted us to have this artwork in our home. In the end, we shook hands on a deal we were all happy with. It was with great pleasure, joy and breathtaking excitement that we were able to walk over to…the Picasso and put a SOLD sign on it. Due to Werner’s skill at number crunching, we were also able to acquire a wonderful Agam. We now had two truly spectacular works to add to our collection of Park West Gallery artwork.

Moon-Noon (black). Yaacov Agam.
Thank you again for helping make this cruise another memorable one by providing such excellent works of art and most importantly, great people like Werner and Shaun.

Patrick and Diana A.

Art Auctioneers Raise Funds for Charities

The Art Auction Team along with the entire Explorer of the Seas crew recently donated over $20,000 to various charities! When asked about their fundraising efforts, Fundraising Organizer and Park West Art Auctioneer, John Block had this to say:

"Many of our crew members come from very economically depressed countries, and most of them have wives or children at home that they are here to support. Many of them are far worst off this year than in others. When you consider that these crew members of modest means donated over $20,000 in a month to help children in need, it gives you hope for a better tomorrow."

John was also kind enough to write a blog entry about the Auction Team’s fundraising experience. We hope you enjoy reading about it as much as we did!

I Love the World Ver. XIV #18. Peter Max.The Explorer of the Seas Art Auction Team recently conducted several events to raise money for charity in the ship’s ports of call. One of the most successful events was a Crew Auction to benefit an orphanage in Dominica and a Children’s Hospice in Antigua. All crew members were invited to attend and the event was held in the “Back Deck” or crew recreation area onboard the ship.

The auction began at midnight so nearly all of the ship’s crew could attend. Artwork from Park West Gallery was auctioned as well as items such as; a bridge tour, engine room tour, use of a balcony guest stateroom for a cruise, dinner with senior managers, the opportunity to drive a rescue boat, sound the ships horn, as well as ballroom dance lessons, figure skating lessons and literally dozens more. Some of the ship’s local celebrities, including performers and senior management, even allowed themselves to be auctioned off for a friendly “date” with a fellow crew member. This along with the guest staterooms brought the highest of bids.

Heart Series V Ver. IX #17. Peter Max.An overwhelming majority of the ship’s crew attended, and dozens of crew members bid for items. The items for bid ranged in price from a minimal $10 to an overwhelming $1100.

The Park West Auction Team’s efforts, including the auction and several other crew fundraising activities headed by the team, have generated over $20,000.

These funds will go a long way toward improving the quality of life and care at the charities mentioned above as well as other charities the ship sponsors as part of an ongoing commitment to its ports of call.

Review of Park West Cruise Ship Art Auctions

Park West cruise art auctions were recently reviewed by Shasta Wilson on BellaOnline. Upon returning from a cruise to Mexico, during which she attended art auctions and spoke with Art Auctioneers, Ms. Wilson wrote a wonderful synopsis of the cruise art auction experience.

Blue Sails. Slava Ilyayev.
It is always nice to hear about art auctions from a participant’s point of view, and with this being such a well-written, thorough article, we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did!

I just wanted to express gratitude to Park West and to the art auctioneer, Ezra, who was entertaining while imparting knowledge of the art history world to someone who has just stepped into it. If more of the auctions are similar to this one, I will be sure to elevate my collection.
