Dear Park West Gallery,

"A HUGE Thank You to Park West Gallery for an unforgettable cruise aboard the Carnival Triumph! Last year was our first Art Auction and this time far exceeded the first!

Warmest regards and thanks to [the staff] for being so helpful, [and the] Art Auctioneer (he's incredible, savvy and has the best mysteries ever!!) The chocolate covered strawberries were sheer bliss! A word of thanks to Mary (behind the scenes in Customer Service).

I'm very happy with my purchases and I look forward to future ones! Much appreciation for making it an unforgettable trip!"

We had a great time meeting people in our group, and really enjoyed meeting and chatting with the artists. We can't wait to receive our Pangborn's and hang them prominently. You [all] did an awesome job, as did your 'art ninjas!'

Thanks again, and keep us in mind for future trips."

"I am so pleased and so thankful for everything! The minute we met [the auctioneer] and his team, we were immediately put at ease and welcomed! I can't give enough praise or kudos to [him]. His passion, excitement, and presentation are top notch. He also takes the time to educate... again, I can't thank him enough!

We also just received our Tim Yanke pieces (Lone Star and Yankee Doodle) and WOW were we blown away once again! I can't believe I have the opportunity to have them in my house on my walls...amazing.

Park West Gallery, Thank You! Your staff, service and delivery of product are top notch! Thank you to all!!"

"I returned with my wife Rachael on Sunday from a Norwegian Cruise Line trip round the Canaries on the Norwegian Jade. I just wanted to write to say how well I thought the team performed on the cruise.

[The auctioneer] particularly with his art talks was very interesting with stories behind the artists and his style of presentation added value to the cruise. Similarly with the art auctions again, [he] instilled interest in the works of art available

To conclude, [the auctioneer] is a great advocate for Park West Gallery, and I wish him and your Park West team every success."

I was absolutely impressed with [the associate's] knowledge and passion of art. He was instrumental in selling me a Peter Max.

I absolutely love my artwork and am so happy with each piece. [Our auctioneer] and was so personable and entertaining. You have a top-notch team on the Pride and I just wanted to sing their praises.

Once again, truly a surprising bonus to my vacation was visiting your gallery and I hope to do it again in the near future."

Igniting Interest in Art

Park West Gallery customer reviews, David Schluss, cruise art auctions
"Verde Fiesta I" by David Schluss
Park West Gallery Collection

Dear Park West Gallery,

"I'm a beginning art collector and I met [your auctioneer] on the first day of the cruise. While I was perusing what I thought was the ship's art collection, he introduced himself and I found him to be personable, congenial and polite.

As we began to talk, he inquired into the level of my art collection/artist and what I like and why. Based on that information, he showed me pieces that I might like. Through his passion and knowledge, he ignited my interest in art. Subsequently, he invited me to attend his mini seminar which I found enjoyable and informative which enticed me to attend the onboard auction

I walked around and viewed the pieces and found several pieces to fall in love with. Unfortunately, they were beyond my means. Feeling my disappointment, [the auctioneer] sat down with me and helped me to learn that we should learn to enjoy the larger pieces and collect the smaller ones.

Through him, I have become reconnected to the wonderful world of art. I feel a special connection to a special person. Thank you for scheduling him in my path and I would hope to see him again."

One of the Best Cruises

Alex Pauker, Park West Gallery, fine art, cruise art auctions
"Wish You Were Here" by Alex Pauker
Park West Gallery Collection

Dear Mr. Scaglione,

"I really don't like letter writing, but I do when I feel like it warrants a letter. This episode started about seven years ago when I went on my first cruise. I went out of New York on the Celebrity line. While on that ship I met one of the Park West Gallery employees. Now I was never an art enthusiast, but my wife wanted to go to the auction, so we did. The Auctioneer made art seem very interesting. I ended up going to the rest of the auction and even let my wife purchase some art. My favorite pieces, being by Emile Bellet. Since that time I have been on other cruises. I started going with NCL.

This cruise, we left New York on September 25, 2011. It was also aboard the Norwegian Gem. I wasn't going to go on anymore NCL cruises, but my son wanted to get engaged on the cruise. So we booked and went. It was one of the best cruises I have been on, and in no small way, your art director is largely responsible.

I figured I would sit in, on the first lecture. WOW this man is powerful. I know he has to be knowledgeable or he wouldn't be in that position. [He] was an exceptional speaker as well. Since I retired from the police department in 1990 ... I have since been made Master Instructor and my job is to teach new instructors how to teach. I also go around and critique classes. I'm telling you this so you understand that I'm not easily impressed by public speakers. Most I find very boring. However I wish I could get my entire instructor staff to learn what seem to come natural to [this auctioneer]. There have been volumes of books written on the art of communicating. I think you could read them all and still not communicate as well as [he did]. He not only put out so much information at his lectures but made them interesting. You do your self proud by having a man like your Art Director on your staff."

Exemplary Service from Park West Gallery

Dear Mr. Scaglione,

I am writing you with regard to my recent cruise to Alaska on the Norwegian Pearl, which departed Seattle on August 21st. My wife and I have purchased art from Park West Gallery on a couple of previous cruises, so we intended to participate in the auctions on this cruise. You should also know that in our almost 40 years of marriage, my wife and I have always shared our positive feedback with management when we have received exemplary service from employees, believing as we do that positive feedback often goes unreported.

Your cruise Art Director and her assistants and his wife provided us with our best experience on any cruise previously. Not only did they represent Park West Gallery with complete professionalism and enthusiasm, but also made us feel as if we were special and appreciated clients. They were friendly, knowledgeable, informative, supportive and helpful. The art auctions and information sessions were the highlight of our cruise! [The assistant] did a wonderful job when he led one of the auction sessions and we believe he will make an excellent Art Director when he goes out on his own. [The Art Director]’s presentations were not just informative, but her love and appreciation for artists, art history and the topics she covered shone through and captivated us (I am sure other guests shared that feeling as well).

I am proud to say that I now own a Peter Max, an original Rembrandt etching (albeit it is a recent one), a one of a kind Tarkay (limited edition, hand signed, watercolor embellished) and several new Medvedev’s. Thanks to [the Art Director], I now understand what those terms mean and their implication for our own collecting. We are going to have to rethink almost all of the walls of our house, but what a fun thing it will be to do. We can’t wait to share our art with our friends and family!

Thank you for your time and your choices of personnel to represent your Galleries. We look forward to our next cruise and opportunity to add to our collection.

A Wonderful Cruising Experience

Dear Park West Gallery,

My wife, Fran, and I have taken several cruises on Norwegian Cruise Line during the past eight years. Each was distinguished by the ship's opulence, interesting events and top-notch entertainment along with a very friendly and helpful staff. One additional activity also stands out for us; the art auctions and seminars.

We returned to New York on 24 September having cruised to Canada and New England for seven days aboard the Norwegian Jewel. The art auctioneer presented two seminars covering art history and conducted two auctions. We attended each of these events and were greatly impressed by [his] knowledge, presentation style and enthusiasm. We learned a great deal and now have a much better appreciation for art's various forms, styles and genres. We are looking forward to another such fine experience during our next cruise aboard Norwegian Cruise Line.

DEAR PARK WEST GALLERY:

"I wanted to recognize your staff onboard the Ecstasy during our last cruise. [The auctioneer] and the rest [of his staff] made the entire experience exciting and fun. [He] made good use of humor and kept us entertained throughout. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in informing us on the art we were interested in purchasing. Please pass along a job well done and you can be assured Park West Gallery will be our first choice when we look to collect again."

Great Service at Sea

Park West Gallery, Emile Bellet, cruise art auctions at sea
"Parfum de Tournesols" by Emile Bellet
Park West Gallery Collection

DEAR PARK WEST GALLERY,

"We wanted to let your company know how impressed, delighted, and amazed at your auctioneer. He made an art auction fun, while educating my wife and I on the different types of work shown throughout the week's events. He also took some time so listen to our interests/likes and our budget and help direct us towards a few pieces we truly enjoyed.

We ended up purchasing two works by Bellet but through the numerous raffles and whatnot we received much more. They helped us to purchases these pieces as close to our budget as possible and made sure we were completely satisfied with what we were receiving.

[The art auctioneer] should be commended and any awards or rewards you can, should be awarded to this fine individual for your company. Because of him we will be future shoppers and only wish we could find out his schedule to make sure the next time we are in the market for pieces of art we could arrange to attend his auction.

Thank you for your great service!"

"I want to thank you personally for all you did to make our VIP cruise so enjoyable. Behind the scenes, you went the last mile to make certain that we had a great time and your wonderful personality got us off to a great start from day one all through the remainder of the trip. You made certain everything was perfect, were friendly all the time and smiled, smiled and smiled some more. And then ran one of the most effective auctions I’ve had the opportunity to attend. Cruise Auction Guests Find a Passion for Art

Dear Park West Gallery,

"While I did not purchase art on my recent cruise (we did win a piece) I thought I would drop you a note about your team.

The auctioneer was excellent. He was so good that my wife and I attended both auctions. I wanted to thank him and let you know how much we appreciated his insight and history of the artists. His passion for art was obvious.

I hope that soon we will be able to afford some fine art and it will be from your gallery. This is due to [the auctioneer]. I doubt he would even know who we were, as we were just two of many faces in a crowd.

Please let him and the rest of the team know he has turned two ordinary people into two people who are now fully interested in learning more about the artists he spoke of and art in general... so much so I have been perusing your site since I have been home (just this morning!). You have an excellent associate there."

Experience Art Appreciation at Sea with Park West Gallery

Dear Park West Gallery,

"We would like to inform you about our exceptional experience with [the Park West Gallery staff] this past week on board the cruise ship Destiny.

We purchased two Peter Max mixed media lithographs and can't wait for them to arrive at our home. I wanted to buy more but my wife put a clamp on the purse strings!

Our four teenagers were newly exposed to art and were encouraged (and did) attend their first art auction. [The Park West Gallery] team was very enthusiastic and their enthusiasm was contagious - our children told us that they now have a new appreciation for art.

The team answered all of our questions seriously and respectfully. They were all very personable and accommodating which led to a memorable family experience."

Can't Wait for Our Park West Gallery Art

"Icon" by Alfred Gockel
Park West Gallery Collection
Park West Gallery,

"We just returned from our cruise and cannot wait for our art to arrive. We are so delighted with the two Gockel Hearts and the Peter Max Love print.

[Your team was] wonderful to work with. [The art auctioneer] spent a considerable amount of time with us, learning about the artwork we already have (also purchased through Park West Gallery) and what are hopes were for this purchase.

We always thought Peter Max was out of our price range but [the auctioneer] and the Park West Gallery team were able to do wonders for us. All through the cruise when [the auctioneer] would see us and our two boys he was friendly, remembered our names and made the boys feel welcome in the gallery. He showed genuine interest in my 11-year-old's desire to draw and paint and even requested a picture from him. He made Daulton feel very important.

Thank you to the cruise team and to Park West Gallery for making it so easy for novice art collectors like us to enjoy the auction experience and collect beautiful pieces of art. We can't wait for our next cruise and our purchase (fingers crossed) of a Charles Lee!"

I am very excited about getting my artwork in two months. But I could not wait to tell you guys that you have the best group of staff. Thanks for Opening a New Extraordinary World of Art

"Melodia" by Csaba Markus
Park West Gallery Collection
Dear Park West Gallery,

"We just returned today from a NCL cruise to Bermuda aboard the Gem. What a wonderful time Sandy and I had with your staff. It literally started 15 minutes after we boarded the Gem as we went directly to the Art Gallery

[The auctioneer's] assistant met us and Sandy immediately saw a Csaba Marcus work. When I looked over she had her hand over her mouth and I immediately knew that we were off and running (buying art). Three auctions and many hours of one-on-one conversations with [the auctioneer] and her staff, we left the ship with two unique variations of works by Peter Max, three original works by other artists, the Csaba piece and a litany of great memories.

As we were completing our paperwork late Saturday evening, I mentioned to [the auctioneer] that she sold me a $300 Kinkade a number of years ago on the Dawn, that is to be replaced by one of our new original pieces, and that she attempted to sell me a Max piece that I had no intention of purchasing, but would love to own (I now own a similar Max). She asked me what has changed in the 5 or so years since then to the point now where we are so excited about learning and buying art that our days aboard ship are scheduled around the art functions. I couldn’t really give her a good answer until I thought about this while trying to fall asleep.

The real reason is that through the extraordinary people of Park West Gallery, we have become knowledgeable, although I still consider myself a novice about the art world and the artists that Park West Gallery represents, the satisfaction knowing that the art is backed by a world class organization, and that if there is an issue, you and your group handle everything in a professional and courteous manor.

Park West Gallery has invited us to a VIP event... We already feel the excitement beginning to build in anticipation. We can’t wait...

Thanks so much for opening this new extraordinary world."

Compliments for the Cruise Art Auction Team

"Lady Wellington" by Barbara Wood
Dear Park West Gallery,

I am sending you this letter to let you know how pleased you should be regarding some of your employees.

My husband and I went on a Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Legend on April 10-17, 2011 and had a delightful experience with your art people. You should be very proud of the way they conducted themselves and represented Park West Gallery. They made a great team and worked well together.

Your art director was very patient and kind and very knowledgeable on all the art pieces and artists. He was a great auctioneer. [The art associate] was a great teacher and conducted four separate education classes on art, which I attended and thoroughly enjoyed. [Another associate] was so cheerful and bubbly, I wanted to just always come back and look at the art because she always gave me a happy mood. [Another team member] was such a gentleman and always there to help and assist with any answers to questions I might have. [The art handler] was always so full of energy, with such a pleasing personality and he always knew where to put the paintings, etc.

All in all, I should say 'the team' worked extremely well together and certainly brought Park West Gallery to the public and the people on the ship. This is not my first cruise, and I am well aware of the art for sale on cruises, but I just felt that this time I really needed to compliment the art people. And what better way to compliment someone than to let their boss know how well they represented Park West Gallery.

I hope you will congratulate these fine young people on a job well done.

Art Cruise Collectors Give Highest Praises to Park West Gallery

"Dear Mr. Scaglione and Park West Gallery,

I just wanted to take an opportunity to send my highest praises to your company and your art teams all over the seas.

My husband, Joe and I had never really been into art; we have been to a museum or two, but never really took an earnest interest in it. Our first encounter with Park West Gallery was in the summer of 2010 as we cruised aboard the Norwegian Epic. We were up late one night and decided to stroll through the art gallery. We came across a Scott Jacobs that just really blew us away and seemed like a perfect gift for my Dad. We decided to head over to the art auction the next day to get more information about the painting.

Park West Gallery, Joan Miro
"Le Lezard aux Plumes d'Or" by Joan Miro | Park West Gallery Collection
We came to the auction and [the art auctioneer] was up on stage doing his thing. Immediately Joe and I were sucked in and entranced watching [him] perform his auctioneering duties. He was so funny, engaging, and knowledgeable, you couldn't help but just sit and be drawn into the auction.

While we sat listening to [the art auctioneer], one of the art team members came up and asked us if we had any questions, at which point we began discussing the Scott Jacobs we had seen the night before. She pulled it up for us, it went across the block and we bid and won. Our very first auction and our very first real piece of art. What a thrill! :)

We stayed for the rest of the auction and ended up bidding on several more pieces including a set of Emile Bellets and Linda Le Kinffs and we even ended up winning a drawing and won ourselves a Krasnyansky! It was a very exciting day for us both.

Over the course of the rest of the cruise, we came to know the art team very well. We went to almost every auction and acquired a few more additional pieces, including an Alfred Gockel, a small Peter Max and our prized possession, a Joan Miro. Miro is my very favorite artist and really the only artist I knew anything about before our experience with Park West Gallery. Later in the week we ended up winning another piece of art, a beautiful Tarkay. It was an incredible week for us both.

The art team on the Epic was absolutely nothing short of incredible. [One of the assistants] was like a walking art encyclopedia, she knew everything about every artist and every piece we enquired about and never seemed to tire of our endless stream of questions. [The art auctioneer] entertained us all week with his incredible auctioneer skills, and [another assistant] was the accounting genius behind the scenes that helped us make sense of all of our financing options.

At the end of the week we had maxed out both of our Park West Gallery credit cards, but came across an amazing sculpture of 'Samuel the Poet' by Nano Lopez that Joe and I just absolutely fell in love with. With [the art team's] help, we were able to afford the remaining balance to purchase Samuel and he is now one of our most coveted pieces (aside from our Joan Miro). We just recently found out that Nano Lopez will no longer be creating any more Samuel sculptures and that they are completely sold out. Without the help of [the art team] we would have missed an opportunity to collect one of our most favorite pieces that is currently proudly displayed in our home. We are eternally grateful for their 'above and beyond' attitudes that made it possible for us to collect this piece along with all of our other cherished pieces.

We just wanted to send our highest regards and compliments to the Park West Gallery team on the Epic. They helped us begin our art collection and sparked a love in us for art that we thought was only reserved for the socially elite.

A few months later I received a phone call from a member of the VIP art team inviting my husband and I to embark on a VIP cruise with Park West Gallery in January on the Norwegian Gem. We of course accepted and attended the trip. Once again, my husband and I were just blown away by the level of service and personal attention given to each guest traveling with Park West Gallery. We really were treated like VIPs every moment throughout the trip.

Everyone one of [the art team] were absolutely amazing. They balanced a level of professionalism with a level of comfort, ease and genuine friendly rapport with the guests that I believe is a very difficult skill to master. In addition, they all were incredibly knowledgeable about all of the art pieces and never tired of our endless stream of questions and requests. They really went above and beyond to make us feel like VIPs.

One member of the art team sat on the floor of the gallery with me for almost an hour as I stared at several Miro lithographs discussing my preferences for each one. Another member of the team hauled pieces of art out from storage on the ship just so we could look at them in person. And most surprisingly, I even had to call one of the team members in their room on their one 'day off' (we didn't have any auctions or meeting or dinners scheduled for this day) and this team member STILL got back to me in a very timely manner. This team REALLY went above and beyond and every aspect of this trip had us feeling like complete and total VIPs.

Having the opportunity to meet the artists was an even bigger surprise and an unforgettable experience. Now, three months later, Joe and I are still in contact with all 3 artists we met on the VIP cruise. In addition, during this cruise we had the opportunity to expand our collection adding another Miro as well as two Dominic Pangborn's, a Yaacov Agam and a Fanch Ledan. It is so exciting to see our art collection grow and expand thanks to Park West Gallery.

One thing I would like to take a special moment to note is how significant it was to both me and my husband that we were not ignored by any team member of either art team (the Epic or the VIP team on the Gem). My husband and I are both very young (both of us are still in our 20's) and it's understandable to assume that we are probably just 'lookyloos' or simply there for the free champagne. ;) However, not once were we passed over or treated as though we were unimportant or 'too young' to be potential customers. It was this respect and attention that both surprised and impressed us even further with your art teams.

We now consider ourselves official 'art collectors' and are enjoying our new (and growing) art collection very much. None of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of your amazing art teams and your mission to make the art world more accessible to the everyday individual.

My husband and I both just wanted to write and send our highest praise to both art teams that we have had the pleasure of meeting so far and to thank you for creating such an amazing gallery. We eagerly look forward to enjoying many more experiences with Park West Gallery in the future and can't wait to see how you and your team members will continue to surpass our expectations.

Our fondest wishes and appreciation,

Kimberly and Joe M. (Proud VIP Park West Gallery members)"
