Park West Gallery Goes Above and Beyond

Dear Park West Gallery,

"I don't normally do this, but one of your employees went so far above and beyond that I have to send you an applause letter on her behalf.

[Your art associate] is exceptional! I'm not even an art collector but she made me want to appreciate art. She befriended me at the beginning of my cruise and went out of her way to talk to me and make me feel welcome at the auctions, she answered my questions and encouraged me to appreciate art. It's obvious she loves what she does and she does it with enthusiasm. I appreciated her throughout my cruise.

All of the Park West Gallery employees were friendly and fun, but she is exceptional!"

Park West Art Auction Seminars Are Enjoyable and Educational

My name is Manuel and I recently took a cruise to the Baltic Capitals aboard the Norwegian Sun with my wife and two kids. The reason why I am writing you is to extend my most sincere congratulations regarding your Park West Gallery staff onboard.

The Park West Gallery art auctions conducted by Mitch and Violeta outperform any of the other auctions I have attended for several reasons. First of all, the auctions were extremely interesting and educational since the broad knowledge of both of them was very clear to all who attended. Furthermore, the way they conducted such auctions were FUN since they have a great sense of humor.

Another thing we (my wife and 13 year old daughter) really appreciated were the Park West Gallery art seminars on the cruise. We attended all five of them and it was really impressive the amount of information and knowledge Mitch had, along with the very precise and complementary information of Violeta. I am very grateful that they took the time because my 13 year old daughter would rather have come with us to the seminars instead of going to the pool or hang out. When I asked her, the explanation was very simple; “they are really interesting and I want to know more so I can enjoy the collection we have back home”. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! In addition, one of the seminars was about Marc Chagall. During the seminar, Mitch mentioned the story of the roof of the Opera House in Paris. When we went to Paris after the cruise ended, the first thing my daughter told me when we entered the Opera House was that she wanted to go see the Chagall painting on the roof.

Also I would like to share with you my appreciation for the time they gave me to talk about art and also to share the different perspectives on how to buy, collect, share, enjoy and appreciate art. As I told both Mitch and Violeta on the final day - THEY MADE MY CRUISE.

Congratulations to you and Park West Gallery for having these wonderful people on your staff.

I was on the (RCI Independence) cruise and I must say it was the best cruise we ever took. Sales and auctioneers were fabulous. They actually treated us like we were royalty. We have been to a lot of your auctions and yes, they are all good but we must say this was beyond the best we have ever experienced. Every single detail that they planned for us was unbelievable - right down to the little things. I would buy art from (Park West Gallery) anytime. We are looking forward to our next Park West Gallery VIP auction. Thanks have to be given where they are deserved.  Thank you again, and looking forward to seeing you again.

Just wanted you to know that I had a great time at my first Park West Gallery art auction (Carnival Freedom May 28th, 2010).  I have been on over 50 cruises in over 30 years and always saw (Park West Gallery auctions) but never attended. I stumbled into one afternoon, spent $10,000, and had a great time. Now I’m just waiting for all my art to arrive so I can go on another cruise and buy something else to put on my wall to enjoy.

Customer Corner: Park West Gallery VIP Guests Reflect

Words cannot begin to express my thanks for being a part of the Norwegian Dawn – Park West VIP Cruise. I was not sure what to expect. Park West was reassuring and understanding of my doubt and made me feel totally comfortable to say yes, when my nature was to say no. Everyone from the limo driver to the hotel staff, cruise staff and especially your staff were professional and enthusiastic. The accommodations met and exceeded my expectations.

Most impressively, I opened myself up to a new style of art. At the start of the trip, I never would have believed I would become so passionate about the works I purchased on the trip. I even surprised my son.

I met some wonderful people and the art was terrific. Best of all I have some memories and new art to cherish.

Thank you for a fabulous week,

Leslie L.

Both Nancy and I wanted to express our appreciation for being invited to the VIP cruise on board the Norwegian Dawn from April 18-25. We were able to share some good times, laughs, and exchange experiences with the fantastic group of VIP guests gathered for this cruise. We are certain that we will remain in touch with many of them for a very long time.

As for the guest artists selected for this cruise, what a fantastic experience! Tim Yanke, Noah, Nano, and although not part of our group, Jerry Blank. What a group of talented artists, and their personalities made us feel as if we had know them forever. Although we were not sure if we were going to acquire new art on this cruise, meeting and listening to these artists certainly changed our minds in a hurry.

Noah's art is simply out of this world, and we certainly look forward to obtaining more of his art in the future. As for Tim's work, although we were never big fans of abstract work, listening and spending time with him, and seeing him at work certainly gave us an immediate appreciation for his work. As soon as we saw Nano's work, we knew it would just be a matter of time before we would acquire one of his pieces. We obtained one of his cats in memory of our recently departed cat named Leo, but I can see us getting more of his sculptures in the future.

As for the Park West Gallery staff hosting this event, all we can say is that you were all great!!! From our first contact with you, to your expert assistance in helping us with our art selection, we really appreciate every bit of time spent with us in that process.

Again, our sincere thanks to you, the entire auctioneer staff on board, and to Park West Gallery for this opportunity of a lifetime.

CEO Albert Scaglione Receives Honorary Doctorate from Central Michigan University and Delivers Commencement Speech

Albert ScaglioneAlbert Scaglione received an honorary Doctorate of Commercial Science from Central Michigan University (CMU) and delivered the commencement speech to the winter class of graduating seniors whose degrees included; bachelor of applied arts, bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts, bachelor of music, bachelor of music education, master of arts, master of fine arts, master of music and master of science in administration.

Albert Scaglione, founder and chief executive officer of Park West Gallery of Southfield, which hosts fine art auctions, spoke to an audience of over 2,000 at the 1:30 pm ceremony on December 13. He inspired students with what he described as "the four C's" of recruiting and relationships for success - calling, character, chemistry and competency. Scaglione also told the graduates about the "importance of having faith and believing in something bigger and more powerful than you." He said it doesn't matter which religion is followed but it's important to have deep faith that can provide some guidance and strength every day and in difficult times.

Albert Scaglione speaking at Central Michigan UniversityScaglione holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Michigan State University. He taught mechanical engineering sciences at Wayne State University and conducted aeronautical research funded by NASA early in his career before deciding to transition into art auctions.

"It is a great honor to be selected by Central Michigan University to speak to graduating seniors and help inspire them to pursue their dreams," said Scaglione. "I also am deeply grateful to receive an honorary degree by one of Michigan's premier educational institutions."

A recent ©Central Michigan Life article reported the sentiments of a couple of CMU seniors. Grand Blanc senior Keith Flewelling expressed his gratitude for the incoming speakers. "It's nice for them to take their time to come here and give us words of wisdom," he said. "It's cool that they're really successful, but at the same time not all people are looking to be CEOs - just happy," he said. Algonac senior Jeff Blevins said the speakers know the skills necessary to become successful after graduation...Read more

Accolades for Park West Auctioneers

September 1, 2008

"I recently returned from a cruise aboard the Norwegian Dawn. I had the pleasure of meeting and doing business with a young man by the name of David (Park West auctioneer). I can not say enough kind words about this gentleman. His poise as a professional and his passion as an artist were clearly evident in his presentation of the pieces offered. More over his personal attentiveness to our purchase of "Angel with Heart" by Peter Max, helped to make the experience even more memorable. David worked closely with us going above and beyond. Please recognize his efforts in seeing this transaction through and if you can pass on my gratitude.

This acquisition marks my fourth purchase from Park West and by no means my last. I look forward to our next cruise and future auction.
Again, it has been pleasure.

Thank you,

"I just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Conquest. I had been to an art auction or two prior to the cruise so I knew what to expect. I had the chance to talk to Kirsten prior to the first auction of the cruise and she had such a wonderful demeanor that I stayed to see what was going to happen. Kelsey started the auction with energy and excitement. The smile never left her face. Between the two beautiful ladies I had a great time and decided to attend the other two auctions as well. When all was said and done I had bought over $5,000 in art pieces and framing.

I can’t wait until the pieces arrive! Thanks to both Kirsten and Kelly.

"I am writing to say how impressed my husband and I were with Amanda. She was one of the auctioneers on our cruise last week. She and Sam did a really fine job of selling and of teaching us about the art pieces. We were especially happy with the attention that Amanda gave to us and to the other passengers. It is obvious that she is professionally and people oriented. We were surprised to learn that she had only been with your firm for five weeks. We have purchased art before and observed others. She is equal to or surpasses others with far more experience. It is a pleasure to shop with your people.

Thank you!
