Customer Thanks Park West Gallery for Memorable Cruise and Rembrandt House Tour

Dear Marc:

Thank you so much for your letter thanking me and Tom for joining you on Celebrity Constellation VIP Baltic cruise. My goodness! I should be thanking you, Morry, Se’belle and your entire staff for inviting us and for showing us such a wonderful, memorable time in the Baltic.

You mentioned being a fan of Peter Nixon’s work, as am I. I had the privilege of meeting him on a Park West Gallery Mexican Riviera VIP cruise in 2009, and had the winning bid on his “Mosaic Horse II” original painting on this Baltic cruise.

The Artist's Mother with her Hand on her Chest
Rembrandt Van Rijn
Park West Gallery Collection
My favorite master has to be Rembrandt. I am the proud owner of a lifetime etching as well as a piece from the Millennium series, both purchased at Park West Gallery events. This was my first visit to Rembrandt’s home, and when I saw an etching that is hanging on my wall – from Park West Gallery - hanging on the wall of (Rembrandt’s) home, I was so overcome that I literally showed it to everyone I could find including, but not limited to, Jason, Laura, Se’belle, and my friend Tom.

I would be remiss if I failed to say how much I enjoy the overall experience of being surrounded by the artwork and artists – and learning – a continuing educational experience – about the works as well as the artists. At times I feel as if I’m back in school learning from Jason’s and others’ expertise.

Again, thank you for all of your consideration and I look forward to seeing you at future events.

My husband and I were recently on the VIP cruise out of LA and wanted to thank Park West for a wonderful experience. Our favorite moment was going to the villa in Puerto Valarte and seeing Tim Yanke's art all around the pool - and in the pool!!!! The villa is unbelievable and so beautiful. We made so many friends and said that this was the best cruise ever - all because of Park West Gallery.

Thanks so much,

D'or et de Reve. Emile Bellet. Park West Gallery.Casey and Sebastian were amazing! They were always approachable and very helpful. This was our 5th cruise and we always find time to enjoy the art. Some art directors have been boring and make the art seem very commercialized and the time gets very long, this was not the story during the past week. The two of them do an amazing job expressing their love and knowledge of art as well as making the everyday person connect to the art. Thanks to them for doing to such a great job, and thanks to you for having such great art!

Bridge of Faith The Garden of Promise III. Thomas Kinkade. Park West Gallery.I received the Thomas Kinkade paintings I purchased on my cruise. The paintings are wonderful and beautifully framed. I wanted to compliment Park West customer service, Char, in the professional and friendly manner she handled my concerns. The frame was back ordered and Char was informative when giving me updates no matter how many times I called. She even offered to hold shipment while I was out of the country on vacation in case the back ordered frame came in. I was impressed with her patience and courteous mannerism over the phone.

The People You Meet at Park West Art Auctions

The Reminder Newspaper, Canada

Roger’s Right Corner: It’s the People You Meet!
Commentary By Roger Cathcart

A cruise is a great way to get away and meet new people. The cruise we recently took was on my favorite line – Norwegian – and was out of the great winter cruise hub of Miami, an amazing port with great numbers of cruise ships leaving most days. Our ship was the Norwegian Jewel, a fairly new vessel as luxurious as they make them...

The most interesting people were the Park West art auction people – a fixture on Norwegian lines – whose job was to sell art from the largest gallery in the world. This was the third cruise with an auctioneer and his/her assistants - and they surely were the best.

The head guy was a young and enthusiastic man named Trevor from Houston, Texas. Trevor had worked in other capacities on cruise ships, but said he really liked this job. He had learned about art and the artists while on the job, but his knowledge is impressive and you would swear he had a degree in fine arts. He is also very articulate – a true auctioneer – and really works at getting the bids and selling the paintings.

His main assistant was Etienne, a white South African. He and I discussed the present dangers of being a white person in this dangerous country. He told me that his mother still lives there but had lost her business, and the last time he visited he was held up and robbed. Etienne does not plan to return to his native country but will go elsewhere – a wise decision.

Trevor’s second assistant was a Serbian named Aggy. He told me he had been in Canada but was sent away when his visa expired. He hopes to get an American visa and then apply to become a Canadian. Let’s hope he makes it...

Customer Corner: Park West Gallery VIP Guests Reflect

Words cannot begin to express my thanks for being a part of the Norwegian Dawn – Park West VIP Cruise. I was not sure what to expect. Park West was reassuring and understanding of my doubt and made me feel totally comfortable to say yes, when my nature was to say no. Everyone from the limo driver to the hotel staff, cruise staff and especially your staff were professional and enthusiastic. The accommodations met and exceeded my expectations.

Most impressively, I opened myself up to a new style of art. At the start of the trip, I never would have believed I would become so passionate about the works I purchased on the trip. I even surprised my son.

I met some wonderful people and the art was terrific. Best of all I have some memories and new art to cherish.

Thank you for a fabulous week,

Leslie L.

Both Nancy and I wanted to express our appreciation for being invited to the VIP cruise on board the Norwegian Dawn from April 18-25. We were able to share some good times, laughs, and exchange experiences with the fantastic group of VIP guests gathered for this cruise. We are certain that we will remain in touch with many of them for a very long time.

As for the guest artists selected for this cruise, what a fantastic experience! Tim Yanke, Noah, Nano, and although not part of our group, Jerry Blank. What a group of talented artists, and their personalities made us feel as if we had know them forever. Although we were not sure if we were going to acquire new art on this cruise, meeting and listening to these artists certainly changed our minds in a hurry.

Noah's art is simply out of this world, and we certainly look forward to obtaining more of his art in the future. As for Tim's work, although we were never big fans of abstract work, listening and spending time with him, and seeing him at work certainly gave us an immediate appreciation for his work. As soon as we saw Nano's work, we knew it would just be a matter of time before we would acquire one of his pieces. We obtained one of his cats in memory of our recently departed cat named Leo, but I can see us getting more of his sculptures in the future.

As for the Park West Gallery staff hosting this event, all we can say is that you were all great!!! From our first contact with you, to your expert assistance in helping us with our art selection, we really appreciate every bit of time spent with us in that process.

Again, our sincere thanks to you, the entire auctioneer staff on board, and to Park West Gallery for this opportunity of a lifetime.

VIP Guests Enjoy Cruising with Park West Artist Leslie Lew

Felix Juggling Nine Lives by Leslie LewWe had the fortunate pleasure as VIP guests to be on a cruise with Ms. Leslie Lew. We very much appreciated her style of art and we were able to get to know Leslie on a personal level as well. We in fact purchased “Optimo” and “Felix the Cat.”

Leslie chose our 10 year old daughter, Emma, to be her “assistant” and Emma enjoyed painting with Leslie on a couple of paintings. When we received the “Felix the Cat” painting, it brought a smile to all our faces, but especially Emma as it held a special memory for her to actually paint with Leslie!

The VIP events are fantastic. We find them to be educational and having the artist on board and to actually paint with them adds another dimension to the event. With that particular VIP cruise (Carnival Glory), we were fortunate to meet a few artists. Leslie has a natural way of connecting with the VIP attendees. Each of her pieces is truly special and unique and we love her work.

Thank you!

Park West Artist Yaacov Agam Builds Sculpture at Entrance to World Games Stadium

Yaacov Agam, Park West Gallery Photo courtesy of Ron Schimon

Innovative Kinetic Artist Honored by International World Games Association

United States of America (Press Release) March 25, 2009 -- Yaacov Agam has recently completed work on a sculpture gracing the entrance to a new stadium built in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for The World Games 2009, which will take place in July.

The sculpture entitled “Peaceful Communication with the World” is, as with much of Agam’s work, an exploration of how art exists and can interact with time.

By walking through the sculpture on their way into the stadium, visitors are invited to experience, rather than merely “view,” the work. The piece consists of nine 10m high hexagon pillars positioned in diamond formation — or square, depending on where you are standing.

All 54 sides of the nine pillars are painted in different patterns and hues, totaling more than 180 shades. A closer look reveals that the one side of each pillar is also lined to segment the structure into sections.

The purpose of the segment, Agam said, is that as children grow, their perception of a pillar will change because they will see whole different pillars as their eyes hit at a different height.

“Yaacov has been a member of our Park West family of artists for 30 years, and we are constantly impressed but never surprised by his achievements,” said Gallery Director Morris Shapiro. “He is firmly established in the history of art. We’re thrilled that the world will be able to experience Agam’s work up close at the World Games.”

About Yaacov Agam
Apart from his influence on the evolution of the visual expressions of the period, Agam extended the fourth dimension (time) into his large scale sculptures. Examples include the monumental fountain at La Defense district in Paris, the Fire and Water Fountain in Tel-Aviv. The unity through the diversity of his creations emphasizes the scope of his prophetic artistic intuition. Agam’s art explores not only new dimensions, but also experiments with new technologies and unique materials. Additionally, Agam never fails to take part in the historical events of his time. From creating a revolutionary environment for the Elysee Palace in Paris to producing a multidimensional art work for President Sadat of Egypt and Prime Minister Begin of Israel in order to promote peace in the Middle East, Agam strives to make his work not only exist in time, but relevant to the time from which it comes.

Customer Corner

We just wanted to drop you this quick note to say how thoroughly pleased we were with the Park West Gallery - Freedom of the Seas VIP Cruise. Throughout the week, we were completely pampered, entertained, and educated well beyond our expectations. We collected art from artists we got to know and appreciate. And we even made new art collecting friends. Everyone, without exception, from Park West Gallery contributed to making this a successful event. Thank you so much for including us in this program.

THANK YOU PARK WEST!!! We had a wonderful time on the cruise - you were all so helpful and such gracious hosts. The artists were fun, down to earth people we could really communicate with which helped to open our eyes into their "painting" world. Thank you again for a spectacular time. Hope to see you again soon.

I felt compelled to write and thank you for making this cruise a very memorable one. I would think many individuals don’t understand what exactly has to happen to pull something like this off. From coordinating the artwork presentation/education, reserving multiple meeting areas, as well as being receptive and cognizant to all the various individual needs of each client, I felt every single detail was orchestrated and managed with the utmost proficiency and professionalism.

Having the ability to meet, talk with, and spend quality time with the artists is a remarkable and memorable experience. This is a great concept and opportunity by having the artists interact with the buyers, it makes the artwork become more meaningful to the new owner. This is certainly a noteworthy idea.

I would again like to thank you for making this experience a fantastic one. You did a GREAT JOB!

I want to thank you for the beautiful cruise (Norwegian Jewel to S. Caribbean) in January and the wonderful art extravaganza. You all made it a memorable trip I just received my first Fanch seriolithograph which is hanging in my living room and reminds me of many happy memories.

Winter is still hanging on in Wisconsin, you are so fortunate to enjoy the sunshine in your many ports of call. I send my warm greetings to all of you and again thank you for a wonderful cruise.

If you're reading this while with Marko [Mavrovich], please thank him again for the wonderful time we had with him. I still can't believe that we now have met the artist we "fell in love with first" as we began our art collecting adventure in April 2002. When we got that piece -- Field of Dreams -- we never imagined that we would meet him one day.

We look forward to seeing you again.
